The Operator Certification Board (OCB) is responsible for certifying water and wastewater Operators within the province of Saskatchewan.
The mandatory certification program and the OCB were created July 15, 2000 in accordance with the Water Regulations 2000 and the ammended Water Regulations 2002. At this time also, the Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Works Operator Certification Standards, 2002were formed. Supporting documentation also includes the Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Program Guide. The OCB works at arms length from the Water Security Agency(WSA) and makes its decisions based on the regulations and standards put in place by the WSA.
As of June 1, 2015, The Water Regulations, 2002 has been amended and is now The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations, and The Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Works Operator Certification Standards, 2002, has been amended to The Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Works Operator Certification Standards, 2012.
The Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Program Guide has also been updated.
